Human interest [1]: Memorial service arranged for popular Dover photographer Eddie Clapson [2]

Following the sad death of popular Dover photographer, Eddie Clapson  at the weekend, a memorial service has been arranged for next week. He was 71.


Eddie was born in Dover on 20 February 1940 and worked on the Dover Express between 1968 and 1984 before he set up in business as a freelance photographer in 1985 with a darkroom in Castle Street.

Former Dover Mayor, Jan Tranter wrote on the Dover Forum [4], "...very sad news when we lose characters like that, you can never replace them."

Keith Sansum said of him: "What a great guy, known him for many years, always had a friendly smile always ready to have a chat.

 

And Vic Matcham reminiscing of his days in the ring wrote: "Years ago he was always at my boxing matches and I still have some of his black and white photos. He will be very much missed."

 

"The memorial service is being held on Friday week (February 17) at St Paul’s Church in Maison Dieu Road, Dover, starting at noon followed by a private cremation at Hawkinge.

The family have requested any flowers or donations to the Pilgrims Hospice, Canterbury, c/o Farrier & Son, 161 London Road, Dover.
