Edge roofing panels became dislodged in the storm force winds which
battered the hilltop town yesterday (3 January) and urgent
repairs are expected to begin today.
Community Centre Director, David Godfrey told the Hawkinge Gazette that
a contractor will be coming to ascertain damage and make good first
thing tomorrow.
"We have marked out a 'no go' area in front of the damaged area in case
parts become dislodged," explained Mr Godfrey.

It is understood the damage sustained will be covered by insurance. The building remained open to the public throughout the day.

Mr Godfrey said that there was "not visibly" any water penetration,
although he explained it can only be confirmed after a full
inspection has been carried out.
