In his
announcement, Communications Minister Ed Vaizey praised the enthusiasm
of Kent and Medway.
Kevin Lynes, KCC Cabinet member for regeneration and economic
development, said: “This is very welcome news. Improving broadband
connections for every part of Kent will be crucially in helping the
county’s businesses to be as competitive as possible.
“It will also help communities to stay connected.
“But this is not the end of the story. We also
need to persuade those who provide the broadband network to work with us
in reaching every corner of Kent. So there is still work to do in
showing the industry that it needs to invest right across the county.
“We won’t see the benefits overnight but, in the longer term, this
announcement and our partnership will keep Kent fighting fit for the
rest of the 21st century.”
