Saturday 4th February 2.00pm

SHEPHERDSWELL TO WALDERSHARE & EYTHORNE

From Shepherdswell towards Coldred/Waldershare using part of the North Downs Way. Return is via Eythorne through the woods and fields of Shepherdswell. Please bring stout boots/shoes and water. Children over 7 welcome. Suggested donation of £1 (to WCCP) appreciated. LEADER: Julia of Collyer’s Companions (01304 241806). MEET: Shepherdswell – by the Green next to the church (St Andrews) (TR 263 478). DISTANCE: 4.5 miles (2.5 hours). GRADE: 3. Dogs welcome on leads.

Sunday 5th February 2.00pm

WINTER WARREN LAND


A wander through the warren undercliff looking at the wildlife already starting to stir after the winter rest. Suggested donation of £2 appreciated. MEET: The Cliff Top Café (please park along the road and not in the café car park), Old Dover Road, Capel-le-Ferne, near Folkestone (TR 254 385). DISTANCE: 4 miles (3 hours). GRADE: 4

GREEN GANG (11th to 19th February)

A special programme of events for children and their families is organised during the school holidays. The full programme can be found on our website at www.whitecliffscountryside.org.uk  or in the free Green Gang magazine, which is available from the WCCP (01304 241806). Please note that children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

SAMPHIRE HOE FABULOUSLY FIERCE FEBRUARY


Come along on a walk around the Hoe and discover how we predict when and protect from stormy weather. To calm the emotions at the end of the event there will be a chance to make a natural card to give to your loved one on Valentines Day. Suggested donation of £2 appreciated. LEADER: Paul Holt, White Cliffs Countryside Partnership (01304 225649). MEET: Site management office, Samphire Hoe. The Hoe is sign-posted off the A20 from Dover to Folkestone, postcode: CT17 9FL. DISTANCE: 1 mile (1.5 hours). GRADE: 2. Dogs welcome on leads.

ADISHAM TO BARHAM DOWNS

A circular walk from Adisham through Oxenden Wood joining the North Downs Way passing ancient earthworks and tumuli. Children over 7 welcome. Donation appreciated. LEADER: Rennie of Collyer’s Companions (01304 241806). MEET: Woodlands Road, just past Woodlands Farm, Adisham (TR 223 536). DISTANCE: 4 miles (1.5 hours). GRADE: 3 (may be muddy). Dogs welcome on leads.

DOVER WESTERN HEIGHTS


A walk around some of the more interesting parts of Western Heights defences, including St Martins Battery, the Grand Shaft, and looking down on Drop Redoubt. See the remains of the Georgian barracks and some Victorian defences. CHARGE: Adults £2, children free. EASTRY TO KNOWLTON


Walking from Heronden to Tickenhurst Shave and skirting Knowlton and Hammill. Please bring water. Children over 7 welcome. Suggested donation of £1 (to WCCP) appreciated. MAKING SENSE OF SAMPHIRE HOE (Green Gang)


Join me for a stroll around the Hoe using our senses to discover hidden delights of the beautiful site and to discover it’s history. Suggested donation of £2 appreciated. GREAT MONGEHAM TO RIPPLE


Join our friendly group on a circular walk from Great Mongeham to Ripple Church. Children over 7 welcome. Suggested donation of £1 (to WCCP) appreciated. WINTER FORAGE, FOLKLORE AND SURVIVAL WALK


What could you survive on, from the wild, in winter? Our ancestors did it, but it’s not an easy task! Bring out that Stone Age person hiding in your genes! Come on a walk to stop, see and hear about the different food and herbal remedy ingredients that can be found in the wild in winter! Dress up with layers and bring a drink and a snack with you.
