A seasoned pub manager and chef is returning to the place he first made his name over twenty-five years ago.

Peter Laidlow, who was the very first landlord of the Master Brewer in Perries Mead, Folkestone, is taking over behind the bar, with plans to offer top-quality ales and tasty, value for money meals.

Peter Laidlow commented: "I jumped at the chance to come back to the Master Brewer. I look forward to welcoming existing and new customers in the coming weeks.”

More recently, Peter spent eight years as head chef for an award-winning, privately-owned Kent pub group. One of the pubs he worked in was the well-known Chaser Inn at Shipbourne, where he earned a deserved reputation for serving high-quality, freshly-cooked English dishes, with the accent on rustic and homely fare.

He managed several establishments in and around Folkestone over the years including the Sandgate Hotel and The Firs Club.

Peter’ is planning to introduce a carvery in the Master Brewer and being a staunch supporter of CAMRA - the Campaign for Real Ale - he looks forward to local enthusiasts sampling the Shepherd Neame brews on offer.
