The Charity Gala Night was organised at the Tower Theatre in
Folkestone for Sunday 29 January by the Kent Police social club at
Folkestone Police Station and it had been hoped that Dave would be able
to attend.
The evening will still be going ahead, but in Dave's honour.
Rock legend Alvin Stardust and his band, Chas Hodges, from Chas and Dave
fame, singer/songwriter John Allen, Richard Digance and rock violinist
Victoria Yellop will all be performing.
The show is to be hosted by compère Paul James from BBC Radio Kent.
Dave's charity, 'Dave Lee's Happy Holidays' is one of three good causes
that will benefit from the event, the proceeds will also be shared with
the National Police Memorial Day Charity and the Grand Order of Water
Rats.
Andy Orfila, who is organising the event, said the evening will have an
added sense of poignancy: "It's very sad that Dave has lost the battle
against his illness, and he will be missed by so many people.
"I'm hoping the Gala night will be a fitting tribute to this legendary
gentleman who bought joy to everyone he met."
Tickets for the Gala Night are £20 and can be purchased from the Box
Office on 01303 223925 and from Music Bay shop in Cheriton.
