A mother and son acting team from Dover are celebrating after one of the films they appeared in won a brace of prizes at the Kent Film Festival (KFF) on Saturday (24 September).

Karol and Ben Steele had roles in the KangaReel Productions feature 'Marty's Project', which scooped the KFF Prize for Best Comedy.

Star of the movie, Jon Fox, who plays Marty, was the former headteacher at Langdon Primary School near Dover between 2006 and 2010 when he left to take up another headship in Plymouth.

Filmed in Kent last year, the film tells the story of Marty Laine's attempt to become a serious writer, only to be hampered by his past successes and failures.

Karol had several roles in the film, including the mother of the film's heroine, Frances, in a flashback sequence.

Ben played the Red Carpet Presenter at the Premiere of Marty's new film at the climax of the movie.
