The Turner Contemporary's latest exhibition 'Nothing in the World But Youth' officially opened to the public on Saturday although visitors expecting to see Rodin's much heralded sculpture, 'The Kiss', will have to wait until October.

Though there weren't the massive crowds swarming into the Gallery as seen on the Turner opening weekend, there were still hundreds of visitors admiring works exploring how artists have represented the experience of adolescence during the last centaury. Among my favourites in the exhibition were Elizabeth Peyton's portrait of Lord Alfred Douglas; the two pictures by Peter Blake - Self Portrait and On the Balcony; the watercolours executed by Turner when he was 11-years old, and the 'pimped-out' Arsenal strips.

'Nothing in the World but Youth' will be boosted by one more exhibit on 4 October, when Rodin's 'The Kiss' will be unveiled, which was voted the nations favourite work of art in a 2003 poll

To coincide with the exhibition, Margate Museum has launched their own youth-based exhibit, 'The Mods and Rockers - Invasion of Margate, Whitsun 1964', which tells the story of the gang warfare which took place that weekend in 1964.

The story is told through a number of exhibits and talks by people who were actually part of the Mods or Rockers who invaded Margate, or locals who were witness to the event.
