Police are investigating following a shooting incident at a Ministry of Defence training ground at Lydd Ranges on Romney Marsh, Kent yesterday afternoon (14 September).

The MoD said the soldier, from the 1st Battalion Royal Welsh battalion based in Chester, was Fusilier Dean Griffiths. He was 21.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said they are working closely with the Army and the Health and Safety Executive."

A spokeswoman for the MoD confirmed it is investigating the incident.
