A man and his dog have been rescued from high cliffs in Kent yesterday evening (25 August) after the animal fell from the top and the owner attempted a lone rescue of his pet.

The dog came to rest about 80 feet down the face of the the 250-foot high cliffs at Capel-le-Ferne.

The pet's owner then became stuck after bravely climbing down in an attempt to rescue the animal by himself.

Dover coastguard were called and safely recovered, uninjured, both the owner and the dog.
