The teenage movie makers, Lily Jenkins from Cheriton, Ben Steele from Dover and Jon Page from Folkestone, who study at Canterbury College and Dover Boys Grammar School were in the middle of filming when it broke down on Friday night.
They hurriedly took the camcorder to several shops only to be told it would cost around £200 to repair, and would take up to 2 weeks.
To buy a replacement on Amazon would cost around £450.
Lily, Ben, Jon and the actors are all heart-broken, as they've only got a third of the film shot and edited and were hoping to form their own production company if the film proved a hit on the festival circuit.
They are putting out a plea for help with sponsorship or a donation of a camcorder, to complete the film, and give their fledging production company a leg-up.
