Schools [1]: Were picketing Churchill School teachers setting a good example? [2]

Have your say! [3]

Dear Editor,

What a great example the striking teachers from The Churchill School set for the pupils this morning (30 June), by picketing outside the school gates.

Some of them even seemed to be enjoying themselves in the sunshine - I wonder how many would have been there if it had been pouring with rain.

Many tax-paying parents were forced to make alternative arrangements for their children, at short notice. Some having to use holiday or go unpaid. Then to have to drive past a bunch of smiling teachers on picket duty just rubs salt into the wounds.

And what message does this set for my 10-year-old son - if you don't get your own way, then strike?

As I understand the Government are still negotiating with the unions, so why strike now?

Would it be so they can strike before their 6 weeks of holiday start?

Yours

Darren
