The Alzheimer's Society is opening a new day support service to help people living in South East Kent who are diagnosed with early to moderate dementia.

Support Services Manager, Michelle O'Callaghan said: "Our expert approach will ensure people feel valued, accepted and supported by our group and will help people to further understand dementia and how it might affect them.

"It's important to remember that everyone is different, so various activities are on offer to promote life skills and aid well being, in a fun and relaxed environment.

"The service is looking for volunteers to help throughout the day and drivers.

Michelle said: "If you are keen to help, or you are affected by dementia and would like to come along, please contact me on 0845 04 05 919 or email michelle.ocallaghan@alzheimers.org.uk

"We will be open 5 days a week from 9.30 to 3.30 and you can find us in the new Hawkinge House development on Hurricane Way."

It is hoped the day support facility will be open in May or June.
