Chamber Chairman, Joanna Ames said: "It will be brighter and better than ever despite the recession.
"Here’s our programme for the town’s traditional pre-Christmas late night shopping and entertainment event. Shops, stores and businesses of every kind and size are all set to put on a real festive season show for residents and visitors of all ages.
"With the High Street closed to traffic, there’ll be plenty of room for shoppers to discover, or to re-discover, what a great place it is not only for Christmas gift-buying but also right round the year.
"There’s
nowhere quite like it for value-for-money choices of just about
everything for home, health and leisure. We look forward to giving
everyone a very warm welcome." Friday, December 9: Late night shopping and family fun events
The High Street will be closed to traffic from 5pm until 10pm and at 6 pm outside the Town Hall. Mayor of Hythe, Cllr David Owen will open three hours of festive season celebrations.
Special offers and refreshments will be available at a number of shops and there will be live entertainment along the High Street.
Father Christmas will be out and about throughout the evening and, with Chamber of Commerce and Tourism chairman Joanna Ames, will judge the Best Shop Window competition.
Awards will be presented at about 7pm.
