It's always easy to put on the pounds at this time of year, but if you want to lose pounds and save pounds too, Shepway's free green gyms could be the answer.

They'll help you keep fit and the exercise will help improve the appearance district too!

Shepway Community Safety Unit teamed up with The White Cliffs Countryside Partnership and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers to set up a green gym in Shepway. The project was launched this month with to improve people's fitness and help with local conservation.

Kelly Holkham, Shepway Community Safety Unit's Information and Promotions Officer and one of the trained gym leaders, said: "People get the chance to get into shape as well as tackling overgrown and untidy parts of their area. It's a great way to meet new people and it doesn't matter how fit you are - everyone can join in. "

Each session includes a warm up and cool down and all tools and equipment are provided. Free tea and coffee will be available too.

Green Gym sessions run every Thursday throughout the year from 10am till 1pm. All ages from 18 upwards welcome! For more details and to register please call and speak to Kelly Holkham or Giles Barnard on 01303 853695 or email csu@shepway.gov.uk [4]
