Representatives from all branches of the armed services, emergency services, junior cadets, youth and carnival groups, local societies, political parties, and local town councillors came to pay their respects to the fallen of the the two World Wars and other armed conflicts since 1945.

The ceremony began with a parade though the town to the memorial and was followed by the service, led by Reverend David Ridley of St Mary's Church.

A total of fifty-five wreaths were then laid at the foot of the memorial, before the parade reformed for the march past at St Mary's Church, where the town's Mayor, Cllr Ronnie Philpott, took the salute.
