My Kent Big Weekend 2012, the county’s annual celebration of its tourism
industry and the wide range of venues that entertain more than 56.6
million visitors every year is a showcase of the best of the county’s
tourism, leisure and hospitality businesses and will be held on March 17
and 18.
Plans are already in hand to ensure My Kent Big Weekend 2012 is the
biggest and best yet with organisers at Visit Kent, working with their
colleagues in the Nord Pas de Calais and Eurolines and Eurotunnel to
enable a number of Kent residents to enjoy a day at attractions in
France and vice versa.
Destinations and event organisers taking part in the My Kent Big Weekend
are asked to offer a number of free tickets for local people to visit
their venue over the weekend and placed on the My Kent Big Weekend
website for people to request free tickets. Once the website closes,
tickets are allocated on a ballot system.
Sandra Matthews-Marsh, Chief Executive at Visit Kent said: “This year we
took the event over two days and received more than 51,000 applications
for tickets during the month that the website was open.
"We were able to give away 18,000 free tickets"
