This week
our railway enthusiast, Dana Wiffen pays a final visit in 2011 to
Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway near Sittingbourne. |

The Bredgar
and Wormshill Light Railway is a delightful 2 foot gauge line tucked
away in the heart of the Kent countryside near the village of Bredgar in
a richly wooded area of the North Kent Downs.
Located on the picturesque side of Sittingbourne, this privately owned
railway only opens its doors to the public once a month and today's open
day (2 October) will be the last for 2011.
Using restored narrow gauge plantation engines recovered and rebuilt from such places as Mozambique, the beauty and superb setting of this
railway offers everything especially for the young.
With today's heat wave adding a mid-summer feeling you would not believe
that this wonderful railway will now close to the public for the winter
period.

It was my second visit, this time taking my 22 month old granddaughter
who would have stayed and rode the trains all day if we had let her.
I still have two more trips at least planned for 2011.
