Legendary former stunt rider Eddie Kidd met up with his friend David Hebditch, of Portland Studios in Sandgate this week to arrange a Celebrity Ball to support Eddie's charity.

Daredevil Eddie was paralysed and suffered brain injuries after a stunt went wrong in 1996.

David is working with Eddie and his wife Sami to arrange a celebrity ball for the Eddie Kidd Foundation which provides help and support to other stunt performers or extreme sports professionals who have suffered disability or illness through their professional activities.

Celebrity friends including Ray Winstone, Joe Pasquale and Graham Cole from The Bill have already expressed an interest in attending.

Eddie and David were also joined in Sandgate by representatives from Box Clever Creative, of New Romney to get together planning the production of exclusive signed Eddie Kidd canvases.

David said: "As we walked through Sandgate for a meal, Eddie was greeted by well wishers who shook his hand and hugged him. He arrived in an Eddie Kidd sign written truck, so lots of people knew he was here.

"We struck up a friendship about two years ago after I wrote to him and his wife Sami after seeing an article in The Sun newspaper. He was a hero of mine in the eighties, when I also used to ride motorbikes.

"Sami is a former Page 3 glamour model.

"I find Eddie inspirational, despite all the difficulties he faces he raises money for others who are in need. He recently completed the London Marathon in 43 days using a specially designed walking frame to help him get round. He was in good form when he came to visit."

Eddie Kidd took part in the London marathon to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

His next challenge is to take part in the London to Brighton bike ride.
