Communities from across Kent and Medway competing for the title of Kent
Village of the Year were asked to submit projects that they were
especially proud of.
The
competition, organised by Action with Communities in Rural Kent and
sponsored by the Kent County Agricultural Society and Kent Men of the
Trees, selected winners over 4 themes - Social Action, Transport,
Economic Development and Environment.

Elham came away with the top prize
Theme winners were Allhallows, Medway for Social Action, the Transport
award went to Stockbury and the Economic Development prize was presented to
Brabourne, Ashford.
Elham took the Environment award with praise from Judge Ray Owen who
said the village had, “A great range of environmental activities that
cover the whole community”
The “best newcomer” award was given to Allhallows.
Competition organiser, Miranda Hayes said: "This was a fantastic
competition this year and the judges did a fantastic job. It was very
close between all the villages and it was really difficult to make a
final decision but the overall winner is Elham in Shepway"
The winner will hold the title for 1 year, until the competition opens
again next year.
