Dover actress Karol Steele is to be performing in a brand new play at the Canterbury Festival this month.

The Dark Entry is a new play by Donkeywork Theatre, and is based on a story from Canterbury's master Victorian raconteur Rev R H Barham's Ingoldsby Legends.

A chilling ghost story set during the upheavals of the Reformation, it follows an opportunistic cleric and his cook who meet grisly ends in a tale of misdeeds, mendacity and murder. The play will be presented as a promenade performance in the stunning private precincts of St Augustine's at the Kings School in Canterbury.

Donkeywork's producers Rob Crouch and Alan Sharpington, writer Alan Atkins and composer Paul Sartin from Bellowhead will bring their own unique and eclectic style to the Festival with this show. Karol will be playing one of the villagers who is witness to the events in the story.
