The
coalition Government is being urged to change its mind on its decision
to rule out Dungeness as the site of a new nuclear power plant. |
 |
|
200 people pledged their support for a new plant at a meeting in New Romney on
Saturday (20 January)
Damian Collins, the Conservative MP for Folkestone and Hythe told the
packed meeting he would take a petition signed by hundreds of residents
supporting Dungeness to Downing Street on Tuesday.
Officials from the Department of Energy and Climate Change also attended
the meeting.

I am sure most of us supported the idea of a replacement Nuclear power station at Dungeness, until this weeks events in Japan.
Whoever would have thought Folkestone would suffer an earthquake.. but we did. Perhaps the Government advisors on this occasion were right to err on the side of caution.
I can hear the 'Greens' crowing from here.. but I hope they don't.
