Crime fighting initiatives [3]

Cyclists in Shepway are being advised to make sure their bikes are secure as the number of thefts tends to rise at this time of year.

The Shepway East Neighbourhood Team are advising cyclists to:-

  • Get a good bike lock (D locks or combination locks are best) - look for Sold Secure Ltd approved locks, or ask the bike shop for a recommendation

  • Always lock your bike next to something secure such as a bike rack or lamppost

  • Lock up removable parts (e.g. wheels) or take them with you (e.g. light fittings)

  • Consider having your bike security-marked or engraved

If you would like to get your bike security marked free of charge, contact your neighbourhood officer on 01303 289271, who can arrange to do it for you free of charge.
