Crime-fighting charity, Crimestoppers, is reminding Kent residents that they never cold call individuals and that any cold callers claiming to represent Crimestoppers are misleading the public.

The warning follows reports to Crimestoppers that two households in Birchington and Deal, east Kent, received calls this morning (9 March ) from people claiming to be from Crimestoppers, selling security systems.

Crimestoppers is advising anyone who receives a call that they believe to be suspicious to call Action Fraud, operated by the government's National Fraud Authority, on 0300 123 2040.
