A local actress admitted jumping up and down with excitement as she enjoyed Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.
 

Karol Steele, who lives in Dover, has a small role a the new movie which tells the story of 70's singer Ian Dury.

The film, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, which went on general release on Friday (8 January) stars Andy Serkis as the punk legend, Dury.

Karol, 47, appears in a number of nightmare-like flashback sequences. She was chosen to play the nurse who is part of the five-man medical team who treats the young Dury when he falls ill with Polio.

The sequence will show the frightening treatment Dury received when rushed into hospital after contracting the disease while swimming in the Southend public baths.

Karol also appears in a number of scenes set in the draconian handicapped boys school Dury was sent to by his father.

Karol said, "I saw the film on Friday and it was quite an exciting moment for me. Within minutes of the film starting we saw the first flashback, and when I saw me I jumped up and down in my seat in excitement!

"This is my first featured role, and though some scenes were cut down in the final edit, you still see me quite a lot - including some close-ups."
