Revenue and Customs has reported that heroin with an estimated street
value of £2 million was seized from a lorry carrying apples as it
arrived in Dover on Tuesday (28 July).

Nearly 100lb of the
Class A drug was found when the lorry
was stopped at
the Eastern Docks of Dover after arriving on a ferry from Calais.
A search by UK Border Agency officers
found a number of packages hidden within the refrigerated trailer of which some of
the contents tested positive for heroin.
A Dutch national has been charged with attempting to smuggle heroin worth an estimated £2m into the UK.
Marcel Volkers, 47, from Amsterdam was due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
In a separate incident on July 16 heroin worth £5.4 million was
seized at the port.
