Police
in Folkestone, Dover and Ashford are helping drug addicts beat their
addiction during National Tackling Drugs Week (NTDW).

Hundreds of advice sheets are being distributed that
give details of partner organisations that can help people who are
having problems with their misuse of illegal and legal substances.
These include the Crime Reduction Initiative (CRI) who are responsible
for the Drug Intervention Programme (DIP) who can offer fast track
treatment into the Kent Council for Addiction (KCA).
NTDW runs from 8 June to Friday 12 June and builds on the success of
last year's Tackling Drugs Days.
Work to promote help for those affected by drugs misuse is an important
part of the on-going operation to target the supply and use of drugs in
South Kent.
Police in Dover, Folkestone and Ashford have carried out nearly 100
search warrants and closed down numerous drug cultivation factories
during the last 18 months and made significant arrests.
Many of these warrants have been the result of information being
gathered by neighbourhood police officers and PCSOs who are now
established in every neighbourhood and comes in response to concerns
raised by the community.
PC Steve Taylor, Drug Liaison Officer said: "Responding to community
concerns about drugs is one of our priorities and we want to raise
awareness of the work being done to tackle drugs and reduce drug-related
crime and harm."
