HAWKINGE AND DISTRICT
GARDENERS' SOCIETY |
 |
The members of the Hawkinge and District Gardeners' Society recently
enjoyed their annual garden visit.
This year approximately 30 members visited Flint Cottage in
Bishopsbourne where they were treated to a meander around the garden
belonging to Mr & Mrs P J Sinnock. The garden is part of the
national garden scheme raising money for charity.
A pleasant evening was spent wandering around the small garden: the
entrance to the garden having large Scots pine under planted with
trees and shrubs and wildlife pond. In the main garden there were 3
ponds and 2 water features; bog areas; mixed borders; alpines in
sink gardens; herb garden; vegetables in raised beds. Members also
received tasty refreshments served by Mr and Mrs Sinnock.
Next month the speaker’s for the evening (Wednesday 4th July) will
be Mr and Mrs Ian Stone with a talk entitled ‘On top of the world –
Nepal and Tibet’
