The Killing Wood Pathway Association
Some residents of Hawkinge have formed themselves into an association called The Swan Way Killing Wood Pathway Association.
This association was formed during the initial meeting of the group at The Hawkinge Community Centre on Thursday 4th October. After much discussion the members voted unanimously to write a letter to The Shepway District Council to express their dissatisfaction not only to the path closure, but also to the way that the council has handled the matter.
For information of this story or if you wish to become a member of this association please contact its Chairman Peter Brun on 01303 891959.
Litter Pick
The community litter pick is on next Saturday 20th October,
starting at 10.00am and is due to finish about 12-30pm. Please come and join us
in our efforts to make Hawkinge a cleaner place .Details from Community Warden

Coffee morning
The Macmillan coffee morning held at the Community Centre on Friday 28th September raised the magnificent sum of £418.59p for the cancer appeal.
Harvest Supper
Seventy four people sat down to a Harvest Supper last Saturday at St Lukes Church Hall. Those people that attended were members of St Lukes Church and The Hawkinge Baptist Church. The supper was a choice of ham or chicken salad followed by a variety of puddings and gateaux, and for those of us who wanted it the odd glass of wine. To that I add of course for medicinal purposes only. A vote of thanks was given by the Rev Rob Grinsell to Terry and Pam Farley and there helpers for providing us with good food , and also to Gerry Swaffer for the musical entertainment .
Safety notice
As the dark evenings approach please leave on a light
somewhere in the house while you are out. I cannot guarantee that this will stop
a thief from stealing from your home, but I hope that it will make him think
twice before doing it.
