Another day and another victory for Hawkinge under 10's. 

Playing away this season has brought mixed results for our u10's team with two losses and a win before today. Hawkinge fielded an almost full team line up against Thannington FC with the exception being Sai Thota who could not make the match. The starting line up for the first half was Jade, Ryan Holmes, Adam, Connor, Liam, Jack and lone striker Mitchell. 

Hawkinge got off  to a flying start with a goal almost from the kick off by Mitchell, on a heavy and slow pitch which did not suit our fast paced style. Five minutes later and Mitchell scored again to put us 2-0 up. Just before the break, Mitchell worked a fine attacking move with Jade, Connor and Liam to score his third goal of the half and stamp our domination on the match.

The second half started the way of the first, with a fourth goal by Mitchell, this time set up by the now completely changed attack of Ryan Smith, Richard and Ben, with Daisy and Thomas in defence. A fifth goal was to follow mid way through the second period, again scored by the prolific Mitchell, sealing his man of the match award.

With the game now firmly won, Hawkinge relaxed and goals were missed by Ben, Ryan and Richard, who could not believe two efforts went wide of the target. With Thannington returning to our home ground next week, all players are looking forward to a rematch with baited breath.

RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Hawkinge Youth FC under 10 

Hawkinge 6, Sandwich Town Colts 2

After the crushing defeat to league leaders Ramsgate two weeks ago, the highlight of which was 2 goals by Mitchell Dyos, The Hawks returned to winning ways with a resounding return to form and a 6 - 2 victory over Sandwich Town Colts. 

The Smith boys shined. Liam Smith scored the first three goals before picking up a knee strain and being taken off in the second half. Ryan Smith, normally a stalwart defender came out of midfield, took his brothers place up front and succeeded in matching his brothers tally. 2 consolation goals from Sandwich did nothing to dampen a superb team effort.

Changes were made across the team with Adam English in defence instead of his normal roll as goalie. Ryan Holmes returned to goal, a position he excelled at the start of the season, and had a confident game and was not to blame for either of the goals conceded. Jack Petts was back to good form in defence with Adam English, Richard Button performed well centre mid field, but the most praise goes to Jade Brooks who had a terrier performance on the right wing. Every time she had the ball, either through crunching tackles or passes from her team mates, she took off down the wing and terrorised the opposing team. Great football and thoroughly deserved Player of the Match for Jade.

With dominance across the pitch, the subs had the opportunity to play for longer. Thomas Steadman replaced Adam English early second half and used his pace to great effect travelling up to attack and then swiftly defending. Sai Thota came on shortly after for Jack Petts in defence and had a solid game, making a number of important tackles. Daisy Brazier replaced Liam Smith and took the left wing, allowing Ryan Smith to play up front, and was unlucky to miss the target on two occasions, narrowly going wide of the post on both attempts. 

At the end of the match, both teams shook hands and commented on a thoroughly enjoyable game on a lovely Sunday afternoon.

BAY MEET THEIR MATCH

Hawkinge 5, Herne Bay Youth Res 2

Following last weeks 2-1 loss against Herne Bay Harriers, the only highlight of which was a superb m.o.m performance and goal by Ryan Holmes in the pouring rain, Hawkinge returned to winning ways.

Playing top of the table Herne Bay Youth Reserves, Hawkinge fought throughout the match to win 5-3 on a lovely sunny autumn afternoon at Hawkinge football ground. Connor Haden scored two goals and Mitchell Dyos again scored a hat trick to make him the clubs top target man. With the return of the sunny weather, Hawkinge's spirit came back and only a late penalty from Herne Bay made the score look respectable as Hawkinge had dominated most of the match. 

The game was physical throughout with a number of players taking knocks, so our subs played a major part. Richard Button, Ryan Holmes and Ryan Smith were as dominant as ever in the defence and midfield area. Liam Smith was running end to end constantly feeding balls to Mitchell and Connor, and was rewarded with man of the match.

Jack Petts was having an off day, made worse by picking up an ankle injury and was disappointed to be subbed late in the match. This allowed for Sai Thota and Daisy Brazier to work hard in the defence keeping a now desperate Herne Bay under control. Jade Brooks replaced Richard Button midway through the second half. Though playing with an injured leg from an earlier push bike accident, she played well in midfield and finished the game on good form. Mitchell was subbed late on and was replaced by a now rested Richard Button.

Adam English was superb in goal and could not be blamed for any of the goals conceded and made a number of important saves against a club which had not lost all season.

A great result on a lovely day, enjoyed by all. a special thank you to Rob who stood in as ref at short notice and to all the parents for their support today.

FANTASTIC TEAM EFFORT

Hawkinge Youth 2 - Monkton Youth 0

Hawkinge Youth Under 8's celebrated their first ever win in this highly competitive encounter against Monkton Youth. 

On a windy and overcast day, Hawkinge performed with great team spirit to overcome Monkton who battled to the very end.

The first half was evenly contested with both teams creating half chances, the best of which fell to Hawkinge's hard working Conor Guilfoyle, his effort bravely saved by the Monkton keeper. Hawkinge's Charlotte Avery then came close to scoring her second of the season, with an effort that went just wide of the Monkton upright. 

Monkton pressed to open their account toward the end of the first half, but were denied by great tackling from Tim Biggs and Jacob Moorcroft.

The second half started in explosive fashion, with Hawkinge being awarded a penalty after a great driving run by Liam Jelly. Conor Furness stepped up to take the kick but was denied by the excellent Monkton keeper. Joshua Roberts then hit a rasping shot from outside the area which was destined for the top corner, but the Monkton keeper somehow tipped the ball around the post. 

Hawkinge were growing in confidence by now and creating chances at will, through skilful play by Alex Cooling. Finally, the deadlock was broken when Conor Furness cut in from the right and hit an unstoppable shot into the corner of the Monkton goal. 

Monkton threatened momentarily with a long range effort which was expertly saved by Elliott Fletcher in the Hawkinge goal. However, the Hawkinge win was sealed with five minutes remaining, when Conor Guilfoyle scored from close range after good combination work between Liam Jelly, Alex Cooling and Conor Furness. 

The final whistle was greeted ecstatically by Hawkinge players and supporters alike, all of which contributed to a fantastic team effort.

UNBEATEN RUN CONTINUES

Hawkinge Youth 9 Dover Rangers Colts Res 1

Hawkinge youth outplayed Dover Rangers Colts reserves, with a fine team effort and some good individual performances.

Hawkinge dominated large parts of the game and this result puts Hawkinge second in the league, level o­n points with Herne Bay Youth reserves who they play at home o­n 29 October.

Goals came from, Liam Smith (4) Mitchell Dyos (4) and Connor Haden (1).

HAWKINGE UNSTOPPABLE

Hawkinge U10 v Dover Rangers Colts Reserves

Another game and another win for our under 10's team at home today (1 October) against Dover Rangers Colts Reserves.

On a wet and windy afternoon, Hawkinge were unstoppable, running away 9-1 winners. Liam Smith scored 4, Mitchell Dyos scored a hat trick and Connor Haden continued his fine run of form scoring 2 goals and providing many telling crosses and corners.

A big change at half time being 5 - 0 up, Hawkinge brought off their starting attack and defence, allowing a run out for our loyal reserves, Jade Brooks, Thomas and Daniel Steadman (attack) and Daisy Brazier (defence). 

Ryan Holmes and Ryan Smith were again super reliable in defence and Richard Button was as busy as ever in mid field, cutting out a number of passes from Dover and not allowing their forwards to threaten. Daisy Brazier was player of the match and received our weekly trophy for following instructions and putting all her effort into her role as defender.

With ten minutes to go, and after a goal by Dover, the formation was changed again and our refreshed attack force returned and put in another 4 goals including a great strike from Mitchell Dyos, to end the day deserved 9 -1 winners.

GREAT START FOR YOUNG PLAYERS

Betteshanger v Hawkinge U10

Following last Sundays 3-2 victory at home against Woodnesborough, where Conner Haden had a hat trick and was Man of the Match, this was another tight game for the village's boys and girls, against Betteshanger.

It was Conner Haden again who set the pace with a superb individual goal from just outside the penalty area, with Mitchell Dyos bagging a pair and a further goal by Liam Smith made up the Hawkinge tally.

After dominating the first half and not conceding a goal Hawkinge were made to battle in the second period as the experienced Betteshanger team threw every man forward to try to come back, only resolute defending by all, led by stand in Captain Ryan Holmes and some brave goal keeping by Adam English ensured the victory.

Richard Button received Man of the Match for his tireless centre midfield display either feeding balls to the attack of running the length of the field to defend.

Special mention should be made about Ryan Smith who was as solid as ever in defence and our two subs Jade Brooks and Sai Thota who came on in the second half to replace an exhausted Connor Haden and Liam Smith to reinforce the defence.

A great match full of guts and determination by all and enjoyed by every proud parent watching. A compliment to all hard working players and team spirit

MINIS LOSE THEIR WAY...

The football season is here again and the Hawkinge Youth have two teams playing Mini soccer this coming season, an under 10 team and a team of under 8's.

It was the under 8 team that kicked off the season on Saturday (29 July) playing a friendly against Snowdown and Aylesham at home.

Both sides were newly formed so it was not a game for harsh judgements on the result.

The away team quickly got their first goal, followed by an equalizer from Hawkinge's  Jamie Smith.

Before half-time Snowdown and Aylesham had scored a second but the Hawkinge youngsters managed to top this by putting away 3 more, scored by Alex Lawson, Liam Jelley and another by Jamie Smith.

But in the second half it all fell apart for the Hawkinge side as the visitors, being quicker on the ball put another 6 into the Hawkinge goal with the village side unable to respond.

HAWKINGE CUP FINAL

Come and support your local team at the Eurolink League Cup Final o­n Sunday.

Hawkinge will be up against Nailbox from Folkestone in what promises to be an exciting and tough match.

The kick off is at 3.00pm so why not after Sunday lunch stroll over to the ground off Cricketers Close and give our lads a cheer.

STROLLING TO VICTORY

The Hawkinge Sunday morning team had the game they needed before their important cup final clash on Wednesday.

Playing Swingfield the game turned out to be a stroll as they were up against a team that had yet to win this season.

Within minutes Hawkinge scored setting the pattern for the rest of the match, and depositing another eight goals into the Swingfield net.

Apart from the visitors hitting the crossbar from a free kick the villagers easily banked another three points in this one sided match.
