Do you play or are you interested in badminton?

Posted by editor on Oct 18, 2007 - 11:25 AM

By John Copsey

Hello, I represent the Nailbourne and Swingfield Badminton Association.

The association fosters the growth of the sport mainly in rural areas, to help the existing clubs and set up new ones.

We are keen to hear from all players of our sport and to contact those who have never played, whatever age or ability they think they may have.

This is sociable badminton with a competitive edge (the member clubs will play each other from time to time but without actually being in a league).

Anyone interested can email me on mjpc@realemail.co.uk, call me on 01303 840098/840588 or mobile 07942 133 024

Airfield radio controlled flying club

Posted by editor on Dec 30, 2006 - 11:38 AM

Dear Ed,

I have been looking into the possibility of creating a radio controlled flying club here in Hawkinge and would be interested to hear from anyone who can help this happen.

I think a club actually flying from the remaining aerodrome would be of particular interest from both a memorial and historical view point.

Any views, ideas or support welcome.

Lloyd

Performing in front of millions, backing Robbie Williams

Posted by editor on Dec 18, 2006 - 12:20 AM

I don't want to tell you how to suck eggs and I am sure you know that ballet is the basis of all dance.

So when you see the amazing commercial Jazz dancer believe me to dance to that level they have to have a high standard of ballet.

Years ago there were jobs for dancers, jobs for singers and jobs for actors. Now the industry want you to do it all.

So you have been dancing from a young age, you are one of the best in your dance school and you dream of a successful career in dance. You can see yourself on stage performing in front of millions backing Robbie Williams and such like. Now you ask yourself how do I get there.

Remember fame comes to only a few but if you work hard you can have a fantastic career as a performer.

First you need to know what to do next, you ask yourself shall I just do the audition circuit or do I try for Performing Arts College.

I will give you my view on this, you need the cards stacked in your favour and Performing Arts college give you a better hand to play with.

I am the Principle of Franze Academy and have dancers who have danced for the age of three and are now on the audition circuit and believe me it's not easy. Preparation is the basis of a good audition. To me my dancers are Fab but they all have weak areas and with most of them it is singing.

At the auditions you will be required sing. My advice to them is to enjoy singing, sing in the bath, on the train (ha ha) try hard to improve and hope that the colleges will see your potential. If not, you will know what is required and you will have to work on these areas and try again next year. If this is what you want then you just can't give up.

Speak to your principal and ask their advice and if you feel you need more tuition and can afford it then go for it. If you can not afford more lesson then you are going to have to train at home, ask your dance teacher for advice.

You must build your stamina as the audition are set at a high standard. Remember the Performing Arts Colleges are looking at your potential and what they can do for you so if you are weak in one or two areas still go for it, you will never know if you don't try.

Remember:- PREPARATION - PREPARATION  - PREPARATION

I have put together a list of dance colleges and their contact numbers. First you will have to call the office and ask for a prospectus.

For your information dance colleges charge and audition fee, the can be between twenty five and thirty five pounds.

Please send me your questions or experiences and we can all help each otherfrances@kentdancechallenge.co.uk
