EDITOR'S MESSAGE - COMMENTS

Posted by editor on Sep 15, 2009 - 03:10 PM
There have recently been a number of comments to articles received by the Hawkinge Gazette without an email address or with an invalid email address. Please understand that we cannot publish any submissions if we are unable to identify the author - Email addresses are NOT published and authors can use either a pseudonym or their name to sign the posting

We are sorry but due to the unprecedented number of comments received regarding the Lydd school story, the number of new comments which we print in the letters category will be cut. An index of comments will remain on our front page for another seven days.

Please use the Feedback Form if you wish to contact us..... Thank you

The Chatterbox - Statement

Posted by editor on Nov 26, 2005 - 01:40 AM

THE CHATTERBOX

Until recently the Chatterbox had run for nearly three years without any problems but it is now being used to post material which some readers are finding offensive.

The posts derive from a very small proportion of our guests who fail to sign their postings. They have upset many of the regular and new readers.

Although the Hawkinge Gazette has a policy which covers libellous, threatening and illegal postings we have up to now not had to address the problem which is now manifesting itself.

In view of this, we are asking all readers to please use the Chatterbox, in a considerate manner.

Any offensive postings will now be removed.

The Hawkinge Gazette is not a business and any money we receive for advertising merely helps to pay for a small proportion of the running costs of the site.

Without you advertisers would not advertise and without these advertisers we would either have to reduce our content or close the site.

If you have any comments to make please let us know

RSS 2.0

Receive the latest Hawkinge Gazette stories to your website, browser, PDA's  and mobile phones - FREE!

What is RSS 2.0?

RSS or Really Simple Syndication is a useful tool for keeping updated on your favorite websites. RSS makes use of an XML code that constantly scans selected content of a website for updates and then broadcasts those updates to all subscribers through a feed.

RSS feeds are typically used with news sites or blogs, although any website can use them to disseminate information. When an update is sent out, it usually includes a headline and a small amount of text, either a summary or the lead-in to the larger story. You will need to click a link to read more.

How do I use RSS 2.0?

In order to receive RSS feeds, you must have an RSS feed reader. There are a number of RSS feed readers online, many of them free, so with a little bit of searching, you should be able to find an RSS feed reader that appeals to you. In addition to being available on your computer, RSS feeds can also be read on PDAs and mobile phones.

The Hawkinge Gazette and Channel Coast News RSS feeds can also be used on your website.

By either method, the feed will be available as soon as you’ve added it, and your next update will arrive as soon as any changes are made to the page you subscribed to. If you ever decide that you don’t want to receive updates anymore, you simply delete the feed or URL from your RSS feed reader.

What RSS 2.0 feeds are available from the The Hawkinge Gazette?

We currently offer the latest stories feed only.
