Tens of thousands of people in Kent and the South East may be forced to leave their lifelong homes under Government plans.

Tenants and leaseholders in East Kent can look forward to a better service in the future, with the creation of a new organisation to manage council housing.

Plans that will see a new organisation take over the management of council housing in Dover District have been given the final go-ahead.

The scrapping of restrictions on the number of parking spaces for new homes has been condemned by enviromentalists.
 

Three years into the housing slump and homes in Kent are still out of reach for thousands of households throughout the county with Shepway homes costing more than 9 times the average annual income for the area.
