A challenge for the office of Town Mayor at the Hawkinge Town Council meeting on Wednesday (9 May) saw members split down the middle after Cllr David Monk proposed Cllr Ward for Mayor.

Hawkinge Town Council has warned Kent County Council (KCC) it considers the Household Waste consultation survey unfair and biased and may lead to a judicial review.

In an attempt to smarten up Canterbury Road in Hawkinge, the Town Council is offering a super prize to the person who comes up with the best idea to improve the appearance of the flower beds in front of the Tesco store.

The new Hawkinge Town Council sat for its first monthly meeting on Wednesday 15 December 2011 with all nine members attending the historic event.

Many people came to live in Hawkinge exactly because it was a village, not a town.

I am not informed enough to say whether I agree or disagree about Hawkinge now being a town.

Hawkinge councillors are being asked to say what advantages there are to the village becoming a town.
