On presenting Roger De Haan with a medal for Arts Philanthropy in 2008, Prince Charles said: "Most philanthropists will content themselves with supporting a handful of carefully selected institutions. Roger De Haan is a bit different: he is attempting to regenerate an entire town."

Shepway Council claims no evidence in Lydd Airport Inquiry suggested their decision over planning was wrong

In their closing statement to the Lydd Airport Inquiry on 16 September, Shepway District Council stated it's position remained one of strong support for the applications by London Ashford Airport Limited for permission for a runway extension and a new passenger terminal at LAA, Lydd.

Folkestone and Hythe 'MP cares not one diddly squat for local greenbelt land'

Dear Editor,

I eventually got an answer from our Shepway MP, Damian Collins over whether he supports the proposed development of 5 large houses and the conversion of the 2 Martello Towers into holiday lets at Sandgate Escarpment, above the village.

Hawkinge supermarket protestors told to keep it clean and unstick their stickers

Dear Editor,
There have always been a number of Hawkinge residents making a fuss when there is any talk of change, and the proposed new 'supermarket' in the car park next to the community centre has been  no exception.

Green campaigner and local resident, Sue Sheppard is calling on Folkestone and Hythe MP Damian Collins to say whether or not he supports the controversial development of the Sandgate escarpment.

The Escarpment at Sandgate has one single piece of public furniture in the whole 20 or so acres.

Revised Hawkinge supermarket plans fail to impress protestors

Hawkinge Councillors have again given Shepway planners an emphatic thumbs down over plans to build a supermarket in a car park at the rear of the Community Centre.
