Despite being lambasted by an anonymous letter writer in last week's local Herald newspaper, the Folkestone Urban Sirens have failed to be deterred from their protest over the tailless mermaid.

The group of local women who are targeting the Sunny Sands Mermaid Statue have said: "We are still recovering after reading the letter published in the Folkestone Herald last week."

In the letter they, and their actions were described as 'moronic, stupid and immature' although from the 'onwards and upwards!' response from the women protesters it appears the protest goes on.

The latest photos show the mermaid with a copy of Janet Street- Porter' book 'Life's Too F***ing Short', which is described as an indispensable guide for women to surviving in the 21st century.

The Folkestone Urban Sirens continue their protest

Street-Porter's mantra is to tell yourself every day 'I'm bloody brilliant'! It's a new philosophy, that to succeed in life and be happy, you must put yourself first at all times.

The Mermaid sculpture of local mum, Georgina Baker was created for the Folkestone Triennial by artist Cornelia Parker.

The Folkestone Urban Sirens, known as the FUS are publishing new photographs of the statue weekly on Facebook.
