Can I urge all Gazette readers with Playstation accounts to be very vigilant in the next months about their online banking details.

It seems Sony have no idea how serious an incident this is and have just sent emails to all account holders to emphasise this fact.

I recently received an email, allegedly from my bank, suggesting I needed to re-submit my personal details because of password errors. By coincidence, I had just had such a genuine error and had received new login details form my bank.

This was however a phishing scam and the false website was a duplicate of my banks genuine website. My suspicions were raised only because the details requested were very detailed.

When I joined the Playstation network, I was very worried at the amount of personal detail they required, just to purchase games. I chose not to to register my credit card and my fears have now been verified.

Readers should be aware of the ease data can be taken online. Check your bank statements regularly and change all your passwords.
