The Waterfront Restaurant in the Beachbrow Hotel, opposite Deal pier has been a long favourite with anglers and is offering to cook whatever guests catch.

The hotel dates back to 1700s, when Lord Nelson's Flag officers stayed here when berthed in Deal. The shingle beach offers excellent shore fishing and immediately opposite the Beachbrow, the newly restored Deal Pier is also popular with anglers.

Ken the proprietor, a keen Fisherman himself, is happy to organise charter boats and arrange river-fishing trips for guests staying at the hotel. The nearby towns of Dover, Sandwich and Ramsgate also offer excellent pier, boat and beach fishing,

Depending on season, the area is good for Cod, Whiting, Dover Sole, Sea Bass, Dogfish, Dab and Pouting.

The Breakwater Pier at Dover is open for fishing Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Admiralty and Princess Piers at Dover and the Deal Pier, together with Samphire Hoe (which has a mile of fishing area, plus parking and a picnic area) are also excellent locations for a day's sea fishing.

For lighter inland fishing, Cottington Lakes offers two large lakes stocked full with carp and five lakes for silver fishing, which are open from dawn to dusk. The local rivers providing ideal pike fishing.

Resident chef Michelle Spain is renowned locally for a menu fish is strong on seafood and is happy to prepare guests' catch in the Waterfront Restaurant. In summer month's al fresco tables offer views across the beach.

The hotel is currently offering a third night free on midweek breaks.
