The new P&O superferry, Spirit of Britain, was greeted by scores of people lining Langdon Cliffs as she arrived in Dover this morning (9 January).

The vessel had left the shipyard in Finland, where it was built, on Wednesday (5 January)

Weighing in at 49,000 tonnes, the 700ft long ship is the largest ferry to operate on the Dover Calais route.

The ship will carry 2,000 passengers and has room for 195 passenger cars and 180 trucks.

P&O have invested €360million  in the Spirit of Britain and her sister ship, the Spirit of France, which is scheduled for delivery in September 2011.
