The countdown is on for the Hawkinge event of the year

News

The Community Fun Day on Saturday (11 September) runs from noon to 6 o'clock and if you want to continue into the evening, the Hawkinge Community Centre will be hosting a concert to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Although the fun and games start at midday the official opening by World War 2 veterans Dennis Nichols and Bernie Banfield who served with Bomber Command will be at 2pm.

It will feature the usual array of fun and food stalls, kids inflatables, a climbing wall and Games Truck.

Many village clubs and societies will be represented with a variety of stalls.

The First Foot Guards re-enactment group will be staging mock battles and there will be music and stage acts including Kas and Ashik who will also be performing in the evening at the Battle of Britain Concert in the Community Centre.

In the Centre there are memorabilia displays, short mat bowls, a dance workshop between 1 and 2pm and a selection of delicious Nepalese food.

If the weather is fine the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight are hoping to stage a flypast of a Hurricane and hopefully a Spitfire.

With all this and lots more - why not come along and join in the fun.
