Leas Lift 125th Centenary Celebrations need performers to rise to the occasion (Updated)

News

By CJ

Help is needed from local performers who could rise to the occasion at the Leas Lift 125th Centenary celebrations in two weeks time.

Lift boss Eamonn Rooney explained that although various events were planned he would like to hear from any performers who can help with the celebrations to make this centenary a special event to remember.

He would also like to hear from any volunteers to help with the daily operations.

When I visited Eamonn at the Leas Lift today to congratulate the team on recently reaching their 15,000th passenger I could see car loads of passengers going up and down the historic lift and it would appear the new operation is going very well.

If you can help please contact Eamonn Rooney at the Lift or via the website http://www.leasliftfolkestone.co.uk/.

Just to confirm the dates for the 125th celebrations of the Leas Lift is Sat 18th and Sun 19th Sept. 2010

They have a vintage car rally on the Sunday at the lower arena.

They would like face painters etc for the children , and any acts such as dancers, ( acoustic bands and singers due to power supply restrictions ) who would like to support the celebration.

No fees but publicity is no bad thing.

Also, any ex-employees of the Lift going back in time would be welcome to tell their story and maybe have a reunion.

Contact Eamonn Rooney for full details and to arrange times etc. Eamonn44@hotmail.com

if you still haven't visited the Lift and taken a ride this would be a great time to do so.

On a sunny weekend to celebrate the 125th anniversary, the Leas Lift notched up its 25,000th passenger.

Various volunteer artists and performers helped mark the occasion along with veteran cars.

Well done Eamonn and the team. A limited edition mug can be bought at the lower station to help boost funds.
