Police arrest man following Folkestone hotel blaze

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man after a suspected arson attack at a hotel in Folkestone yesterday (30 August).
 


Kent Police said it was treating the fires at the four-storey Windsor Hotel in Langhorne Gardens as "suspicious".

Two rooms on the second floor of the building were destroyed after two separate blazes broke out at about 9.30pm

There was light smoke damage to the second and third floors.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "A 28-year-old man was arrested late last night in connection with the incident and is currently in custody at Folkestone Police Station.

"KFRS (Kent Fire and Rescue Service) rescued a man from the basement of the hotel who was taken to the William Harvey Hospital as a precaution, but police believe there were no guests staying in the hotel and no other people were harmed.

"Further inquiries are being made at the scene."
