The second British Armed Forces Day took place on The Leas, Folkestone yesterday (26 June).

The day is an annual opportunity for the nation to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to Service families, and from veterans to cadets.

As well as Armed Forces displays by the Royal Gurkha Rifles, South East Brigade, Prince of Wales Royal Regiment TA Unit and Local Cadet Forces, there were the Ex Services Associations on hand to talk to visitors.

Music was provided by the Folkestone Pipes and drums and the1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles performed the Kukuri Dance.

Vocalists Kas, Alice Brown and Louise Orfila sang on the Bandstand to event visitors.

Stands included Help for Heroes, Royal British Legion, The Gurkha Memorial Fund, and the Bomb Disposal Squad.

Dear Editor,
Your story fails to say that music was also played by The Folkestone and Hythe Sea Cadets band.
I make this comment as not only did the band make good music but were also left out in the blazing afternoon sun standing to attention whilst dignatories carried on their speaches in the shade of band stand.
