Regular Folkestone visitor Peter Jurzynski from Naugatuck in the US will begin his training in the English Channel next month for another attempt at a cross-channel swim.

Jurzynski, who will soon turn 59, has swum the English Channel more times than any other American.

He had open heart bypass surgery two years ago and put last years aborted attempt down to not  being fully ready after the 2008 surgery.

Peter said his 2010 swim will take place sometime after July 15, and will probably be much later in the summer, depending on how he adjusts to the cold water temperatures.

Peter has lost some weight since his operation and admitted that, with less body fat, the only reasonable approach is to spend far more time acclimatising to 59 degree water.

This year marks Mr. Jurzynski's 25th year of involvement with channel swimming and the community of Folkestone.
