New way to book Kent Big Day Out tickets

News

After another frustrating day for people logging on for free tickets for Kent Big Day Out, Visit Kent has hurriedly brought in a new 'fairer' system.

Due to the technical issues, Visit Kent has changed the application process for booking free tickets to the Kent Big Day Out on Saturday, March 27.

Following feedback, Visit Kent has set up a new application process to ensure tickets are allocated fairly. Visit Kent will operate a ticket ballot that is not dependent on a self-service, real-time system.

Residents can now register for tickets in a more relaxed way via the ballot over this weekend and up to 5pm, on Monday, March 8.

Local residents are being asked to complete a sign-up form online with their five top choice destinations as well as an option for a lucky dip should the first five choices not be successful.

These requests will be entered into a ballot and ticket vouchers emailed to successful applicants ahead of the event

There are more than 16,000 free tickets available to local residents to enjoy 120 of the county’s top attractions and visitor experiences.

Details of the participating attractions and venues, as well as the online sign up form, will be available from tomorrow morning, Saturday, March 6, until 5pm on Monday, March 8, at www.kentbigdayout.co.uk .

“This has been seriously frustrating and very disappointing for everyone,” said Sandra Matthews-Marsh, chief executive at Visit Kent.

“But in tourism, leisure and hospitality we have a reputation for refusing to be defeated.

“We are asking everyone who would like to take part in the Kent Big Day Out 2010 to fill in a simple online form with their details and the attractions they would like to visit over the weekend.

“These applications will be processed via a ballot and tickets emailed to the successful applicants.”

Anyone without access to the internet can go to their local visitor information centre to complete their ballot form.
