A Green Line double decker bus had one of its busiest stationary days in Folkestone's precinct on Saturday fundraising for the 1890 Leas Lift Carriage Restoration Appeal.

With young and not so young alike, boarding on and off, it left many hundreds of passengers with fond memories.

The bygone classic vehicles also on display were viewed in great numbers.

They included a Morris Minor GPO engineering van, and a splendid French black Citroen car, both stunning and highly popular with shoppers.

Fundraisers and supporters

Also on parade were the Cinque Ports Volunteers, who were superbly turned out in their military costumes.

The proprietors of these grand vehicles generously gave their day up at their own expense, and provided the vehicles and are all profoundly indebted for their assistance and support.

Our member of Parliament, Mr Michael Howard, also stopped by and kindly contributed to our appeal. What encouragement for our project!

The Town Centre Manager, Mr John Barber, was constantly on hand to oversee that no problems occurred  and we are most grateful to him for his assistance.

The vehicles came and went leaving behind £400.50p which has lifted our funds much higher in aid of the 1890 Leas Lift Carriage Restoration Appeal.

The generosity continued to flow from the general public who continuously support this project and share the desire to see their heritage returned once and for all.
