A woman from Gwent in South Wales has admitted killing Folkestone man, Karl Butler, in a drink-drive crash in Southsea.

The News website reported that Sharn Van-Gool, 20, pleaded guilty to causing death by driving without due care and attention while over the alcohol limit when she appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court yesterday. (29 March).

She was more than one-and-a-half times over the limit when she crashed the car she was driving, killing the passenger Mr. Butler.

She spoke only to enter the plea.

Mr Butler, 22, from Folkestone, died in the accident on November 6 last year.

Van-Gool was driving Mr Butler's Peugeot 206, when she hit the wall of the Lounge nightclub in Clarendon Road, Southsea.

Stephen Clayton, defending, asked for a psychiatric report and a pre-sentence report to be carried out on Van-Gool.

Releasing her on bail for sentencing on May 28 Judge Roger Hetherington said: 'You remain on bail, that's not to be taken as any indication of sentence.'
