American champion Channel swimmer, Peter Jurzynski, has presented a book entitled 'Positively Connecticut', about his home state to Folkestone Library in Grace Hill.

The book, written by Diane Smith was presented to Joy Pritchard and Fiona Hukins at the Library on Mr Jurzynski's behalf by Peter's good friend, former Folkestone Mayor John Stockham.

In a notation in the book, the American record holder for the number of successful Channel swims expressed deep appreciation to the library and the people of Folkestone for their kindness and friendship over a period of 25 years.

Peter said: "Folkestone has been a major part of my life for over a quarter of a century and it will continue to be a major part of my life. I spend a lot of time in Folkestone library and I thought it would be fitting to thank the library and the Folkestone residents with this token gift,

"Swimming, reading and politics have been my life's passions and there is no better swimming area than the Channel off Folkestone, no better place to read than the Folkestone Library and no better person to converse with about British politics than John Stockham."

Peter Jurzynski is currently back in the USA and is expecting to return to Folkestone in December.
