Nightmare-like flashback for local actress in Ian Dury film

A local actress is looking forward to the film of the life of musician and singer, Ian Dury and seeing herself on the big screen. The movie, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll is due to go on general release today (8 January).

Starring Andy Serkis as the 70's punk legend, Dury, it features Dover actress Karol Steele in a nightmare-like flashback sequence.

The 47-year old actress was chosen to play the nurse who is part of the five-man medical team who treats the young Dury when he falls ill with polio.

The sequence will show the frightening treatment Dury received when rushed into hospital after contracting the disease while swimming in the Southend public baths.

Karol said, "This will be quite an exciting moment for me - my first featured role, providing the scenes didn't hit the cutting room floor in the final edit!"
