A woman from Yorkshire who pleaded guilty to one charge of child cruelty has been jailed for making a young boy eat his own vomit whilst on a visit to Folkestone.

The shocking incident was recorded on a mobile phone by a member of the public in May 2008 reports the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

The woman was filmed shouting at the eight-year-old as she ordered him to lick up his vomit after he had been sick.

Maidstone Crown Court was told a girl heard the woman shouting at the boy and then filmed the incident on her mobile phone.

The court heard statements from the boy's parents describing the effect the incident had on him.

The father said the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was now nervous and at times angry and aggressive and out of control, according to the report.

Jailing the woman for ten weeks, Judge Patience said mistreating the child clearly crossed the custody threshold and the effect on the boy had been substantial, reported the newspaper.
